I don’t think this is actually necessary, but going by the high demand for smartwatches for kids most of which are equipped with a camera, it could be a nice addition. Qualcomm also doubled the ISPs to support up to 16MP camera sensor. This partitions and reduces the workload which contributes to the claimed 25% increase in battery life. One is an MDSP for Modem and GPS, while the second is an ADSP for Open Sensor Execution Environment (SEE) and audio. Secondly, Qualcomm doubled the DSPs on the 4100 chip from one QDSP V56 to two of the same QDSP V56. Hopefully, the lags experienced on many Wear OS smartwatches become a thing of the past. This, according to Qualcomm represents an 85% increase in performance. Instead of a 32bit Arm Cortex-A7 with 28nm process node and 1.2GHz processor, the 4100 chip is built on a 64bit 12nm process with 1.7GHz speed. Improved CPU – 85% Increase in Performance. The QCC1110 is standalone, so manufacturers can actually design apps specifically for the co-processor. So, these two are basically the same except for the QCC1110 chip that comes with the 4100+. The difference between the Snapdragon 41+ is that the later comes with an always-on QCC1110 co-processor that keeps the display always-on in a low-power mode as well as extending support for sensors tracking sport modes. Other companies like Mobvoi released watches like Ticwatch Pro 4G and C2+ still powered by the 2100 chip Yet only a few manufacturers like Suunto, Montblanc, Fossil, and her subsidiaries rallied around the 3100 chip. Then the 3100 chip was released in 2018, it looked promising, but not much of a difference as it was relatively the same Arm Cortex-A7 that uses an outdated 28nm process node, except for the nano-sized QCC1110 co-processor that handled always-on, sport mode and battery saver. Taking you back the memory lane, recall that the 2100 chip released in 2016 still powers a vast majority of Wear OS smartwatches and has seen many manufacturers leave the platform for proprietary chip and OS.

Keep your mouth shut so you don't run the chance of biting your tongue or cheek due to an unexpected shove or whatnot. Beware of the possibility of hitting yourself in your face. Your hands must be up to shove people, ward away oncoming moshers, and to protect your face. Keeping your elbows up will limit the chances of accidentally hitting someone harder than intended. Keep your elbows in, your hands up, and mouth shut. After mustering up the courage to throw yourself into a throng of what appears to be a battle royal, dive in and prepare to get bruised. Now that we have covered the basics, let's get to the easiest part: moshing. Know your limits, but don't cross it off the list. However, it is a sort of right of passage for any mosher. The wall of death possess more risks, so I would advise beginners to shy away from it. The wall of death is not super common and does not start a mosh pit, but every concert goer should at least know of its existence. The opposing sides will wait for the signal from the artist and then rush into each other. The wall of death is when the crowd splits, typically motivated by words from the band playing. If you think the title is a little scary, you are thinking correctly. After running for a bit, the moshers will start pushing each other and it becomes an average mosh pit. It is also started by crowd goers in the same manner as the push-and-shove by a person or two rallying people into running with them to form a pit. When this happens a circle pit is more likely to occur. Sometimes the band or artist on stage will encourage a pit to be formed. I would say these pits have a more organized start up than the push-and-shove method. This will happen at a very rapid rate.Īs said in the paragraph above, a mosh pit can be started by running. The people around the two will notice and either join or back away. If that person feels like moshing, they will shove back. All it takes is one person to become hyped enough to butt another person. From my experience, I would say the former option is the most common way to start a mosh pit. There are two ways mosh pits are started: general pushing and shoving or running. Despite the bruises, a mosher will likely receive, it is very enjoyable. I am just informing you of what could happen, but am by no means trying to scare you away from moshing. Usually this is not intention as the people in the mosh pit are just there to have a good time. Since moshing requires shoving into people and they in turn shoving you there are many chances of getting hit by fellow moshers or pushed into the ground. This does mean that you do not have the possibility of getting hurt. Moshing is a fun activity that allows you to let loose and just give into whatever impulse you have. However, moshing, or being a part of a mosh pit, is a very enjoyable act as well. ![]() Truthfully it is not a very smart thing to do as it can sometimes get out of hand. All it really includes is people aggressively shoving, butting, pushing, and pressing into each other. In all actuality, moshing is a crazy, pointless act people decide to be a part of. Using the highlighter, I demonstrated how to color just the first letter of each word. I wish you could have seen my students’ eyes light up! They LOVE using highlighters. I also explained that we would be using a special tool to help us focus on the first letter. I told the class that we just need to look at the first letter in each word when we place them in ABC order. Young children are always eager to learn big people skills and I knew I would have my kiddos hooked with those 5 little words. I started this lesson by explaining that “big kids and grown-ups” put words (not just letters) in ABC order. To combat both of these issues, we used highlighters! Kinders & Firsties love using highlighters and they are excellent for drawing the eye to important details. This was a big step and I didn’t want my students to get mixed up by all of the letters they saw in each word. I also wanted to keep the activity engaging to them (and let’s face it-cut & paste can get a little dull sometimes). Once my students had success arranging individual letters in ABC order, they were ready for WORDS! For this activity, we used paper cutouts of words. I just added the pink lines to the picture file to make it easier for you see. Here is an example: The actual pages are all blackline masters. If the foam letters seem a little too ambitious for your busy classroom, no need to worry! I have included a set of cutting pages for each activity sheet in the ABC Order FREEBIE download. When it was time to work, each student received a cup and was ready to go! I placed enough of each type of foam letter in foam cups for students to complete the activity (being careful to avoid duplicates). To keep things running smoothly during class time, I prepared the letters for students to use before class. This helped the students focus on each small group of letter separately (instead of feeling overwhelmed by the sight of 11 different letters). I have all kinds of foam letters in my classroom so we used 2 different styles of foam letters. To make the activity fun and motivating, we used foam letters. Then we tried 4 magnets, then 5 magnets! When everyone was looking comfortable with the concept and the task at hand, it was time to let the students give it a try on their own. Then the kids helped me put 3 new magnets in ABC order. ![]() I demonstrated how I use the alphabet as a reference to put letters in ABC order. Then I wrote the alphabet across the whiteboard (nice and low so they could easily focus on it) and I added 3 magnetic letters to the whiteboard. The class gathered on the carpet and talked about the alphabet: which letters are at the beginning of the alphabet and which letters go way at the end of the alphabet. ![]() When I was ready to introduce the concept and skill of ABC order, we started simple. And if you know anything about me, you will not be surprised to hear that I made the experience INTERACTIVE for my little learners. This can be a BIG concept for six year olds to wrap their mind around but we started very small. One skill that I introduced in class this summer has been the concept of ABC order. I have been teaching a summer enrichment class for the kinders at my school to keep them fresh for First Grade. Like all of my teacher and blog friends, I cannot believe the end of summer is almost here and that back-to-school season is upon us once again. ![]() ![]() Colossus’ emptiness feels commercially brave by today’s standards, when games of this size are stuffed with filler and filching: countless side quests and in-app purchases to recoup investment by bleeding players of their resources. On the other hand, Shadow of the Colossus’ focus - you have one goal: slay the beasts - stands in contrast with how modern games have changed, distancing themselves from their predecessors. The original’s bare-bones interface would rapidly be replaced by a decade of open-world games loaded with minimaps, health bars and countless on-screen prompts telling you precisely what to do, how to do it and when - only for that minimal interface to return to fashion again in the past year. On one hand, the two games, taken together, exemplify the medium’s cyclical nature. But even the latter, for all its purity, is imperfect: As Microsoft boasts about backward-compatible games on Xbox One, your favorite Xbox and Xbox 360 games will run better than they did before.Īre games disposable? Are they drafts that will be revised and revised? Are games disposable? Are they drafts that will be revised and revised, fulfilling some trend established by creators like George Lucas, who believe a story is timeless, but visuals, not so much? Is there a right way to preserve games? In recent years, we’ve seen high-definition re-releases, full remakes and backward compatibility on new consoles. If this is the only way people experience Shadow of the Colossus, that won’t be a sin against art, though it will raise questions among those of us who obsess over preservation. Ultimately, the reboot will, without question, expand the game’s audience, if for no other reason than Sony has pushed 70 million PS4s into homes and offices across the world, and this is the company’s big exclusive game of the season. If given a choice between the original and the remake, I can’t imagine that a young person, unfamiliar with or simply uninterested in game history, would choose the comparatively blurry classic. I suspect, in terms of accessibility, they may be right. Naturally, the company brass would assume a classic could be improved upon, or at least made more accessible, with a flashy paint job. This belief, that better graphics make better games, has for decades been central to big video game publishers it’s a belief that Sony itself extolled alongside the announcement of the PS4. There’s a conflict between what’s seen and what’s felt ![]() Where the original is drawn with straight lines and rough edges, a collection of empty valleys and barren caverns, the remake is lush and vibrant, brimming with detail, light trickling through branches, seafoam lapping against the shoreline. What appears to be non-essential to the original game - that is to say, what can be heavily modified or outright reimagined - is visual fidelity and graphical detail. Taken as a whole, we’re left with a conflict between what’s seen and what’s felt.Īs a result, the Shadow of the Colossus of 2018 makes a statement (intended or not) on what its creators deem fundamental, even foundational, to a video game. The scale of the land, the beasts, the emotions - it still stands above the majority of the competition. What’s stunning, today, is that Shadow of the Colossus retains that sense of inventiveness, magic and awe. Of course, this familiar “feeling” isn’t all bad. To call the quality-of-life improvements subtle would be an understatement. Even a slightly revised control scheme (no longer must you push two buttons to perform a simple dodge roll) feels anachronistic. The remake purposely retains the mechanical defects that were inescapable in the era of its predecessor. ![]() However, you still feel - in the stuffy controls, the fussy camera, the unforgivable usage of the Papyrus font - the Shadow of the Colossus of 2005.
